About Me

"Everything worth having requires hard work and dedication"

My name is Bijou Siu, a Canadian-Cantonese UX Designer & Illustrator from Toronto, ON.

As a UX designer, I bring a unique perspective to the table after spending years as a Developmental Support Worker helping individuals with varying abilities, access the world around them.

My experience in support services is invaluable when designing interfaces that are meaningful, accessible and inclusive for all users. My passion for technology and problem solving fueled my transition into UX design, where I now use creativity and empathy to design digital products that enhance the user experience. I believe in putting people first, and I strive to design products that are not only visually appealing, but intuitive and enjoyable to use.

Although I pride myself in the visual and interactive designs that I produce, I understand clients and users are not coming to the site for pretty UI. I work diligently to uncover the true problems behind issues that are often overseen. Focusing heavily on my research before I begin sketching. I often compare this process to the ones of builders where they, "measure twice and cut once".

What problems do I   solve?

What is my Creative Process?

I've only ever worked in lean agile environments and do my best to follow the double diamond framework. My creative is process is different every time because every project is different and the requirements to define it's success, vary. Which is why it's important for me to understand the scope, time and costs. From there, we can establish the Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and will have a clearer understanding of what to prioritize in my design process.

Visual Art

I've always really enjoyed creating but I especially gravitated towards visual art. I grew up teaching myself how to draw and paint. And much like my design career, it is a constant iterative process. My process with art has changed throughout the years as I've slowly gone more digital but the time that I take or the thought I put it in, is no less. I'm appreciative of what art can convey that words may not sometimes.
